Understanding how and when to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a vital part of workplace health and safety. Effective PPE training ensures workers know how to protect themselves from risks that cannot be fully controlled by other means, and correct use is essential to prevent accidents, injuries and long-term health problems. From safety helmets and goggles to protective clothing, footwear and gloves, PPE plays an important role across all industries — but it only works if it is chosen carefully, maintained properly and used correctly by trained staff.
Our PPE Awareness Certification provides a clear, practical introduction to PPE, the laws that govern its use, and the responsibilities of both employers and employees. The course explains how PPE fits into wider workplace safety systems, when it should be used, and the correct procedures for selecting, using and maintaining equipment. It also explores the importance of compliance and training in building a stronger safety culture.
This course covers
- The main types of PPE, how it protects people from harm, and the legislation governing its use and selection
- How to choose the correct PPE for your workers, taking into account their circumstances, job type and individual needs
- How to store and maintain PPE, why it should be tested regularly and when it should be inspected
- Why a good training programme improves compliance with PPE policies, common barriers to training, and the components of a successful training session
The course contains 4 modules (around 3 hours of learning), each including a quiz.
This course is part of our Care courses, and pairs well with our Health & Safety courses for wider workplace protection training.
