Terrorism is a real and ongoing threat, and its devastating effects have been felt time and again. One of the key tools terrorist groups use to spread their propaganda and gain support is the radicalisation of young people, building numbers through constant contact, communication and the manipulation of young minds. While most children are not drawn to such groups or activities, some may be at higher risk of radicalisation, which is why Prevent Duty training is essential.
The Prevent Duty recommendations aim to protect young people from the effects of extremism by promoting inclusivity and encouraging positive debate and discussion.
This course covers
- How terrorists use intimidation and fear to reach their objectives, and the similarities and differences between terrorists and extremists
- How terrorist groups use the radicalisation of young people to pursue their social, economic and religious ideologies
- The different methods extremist organisations use to attract new candidates from schools and educational settings
- How teachers and school staff can assess risk and spot signs of worrying behaviour
- What teachers and school staff are expected to do if they notice cause for concern
- The CIN provision and how to respond if a child or group is found to be vulnerable to radicalisation
The course contains 4 modules (around 2.75 hours of learning), each including a quiz.
This course sits within our Care courses, and complements our Education & Teaching courses for school safeguarding training.
