Security Training for Employers

If you run a security company, a venue, an events business, a retail site or a construction site, Skills Pad can put your staff through the licence-linked qualifications they need at our centre in Luton, or arrange dates around your shift patterns.

Talk to us about a group booking: call 01582 958844, message us on WhatsApp or send an enquiry and we will come back with a quotation.

What we can train your staff in

Why employers use Skills Pad

One point of contact. You deal with the same people from the first enquiry through to certificates arriving. You are not passed between departments.

Dates that fit your rota. If a published course date does not work for your team, tell us what does. Where we have the tutor availability we will schedule around you rather than the other way round.

Licence applications handled. Getting people qualified is only half the job — they cannot work until the SIA has issued a licence. We can prepare and submit applications with each learner for £250 each, including our admin fee, which removes most of the errors that delay applications. We can also take the passport photographs at the centre for £8.

Faster turnaround when you need it. Standard certificate processing is 10 to 14 working days. Our faster service brings that down to 5 to 7 working days for £44.95 per learner, which matters when you are trying to staff a contract.

Recognised qualifications. Our SIA courses lead to Highfield Level 2 qualifications on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, which is what the SIA requires for the matching licence.

Group pricing. Booking a team together is normally more cost effective than putting people onto public courses one at a time. Ask us for a quotation before you book.

How a group booking works

  1. Tell us what you need. How many staff, which qualification, and roughly when. A phone call is usually quickest.
  2. We send a quotation. It sets out the fee per learner, what is included, the dates we can offer and anything the learners must bring.
  3. We check eligibility. We will tell you which of your staff need first aid first, and which of them can go straight onto a refresher rather than the full course. That often saves money.
  4. Training runs. At our Luton centre, 33 Park Street West, LU1 3BE, on the agreed dates.
  5. Certificates and licences. We keep you updated on results, certificates and, where you have asked us to handle them, licence applications.

Honest guidance on what your staff actually need

Not everyone needs the full six-day course. If someone already holds a front line door supervisor licence, or held one that has lapsed recently, a two or three day refresher may be all that is required. If someone will only ever work in a control room, the CCTV course is cheaper and shorter than door supervision. We would rather tell you that up front than sell you training your staff do not need.

Equally, we will not promise you what we cannot deliver. Passing a qualification is a requirement for the matching SIA licence, but the Security Industry Authority makes the final decision on every application after its own identity and criminal record checks. Skills Pad is a training provider and is not the SIA.

Funded and part-funded routes

Skills Pad also delivers funded and part-funded programmes, including work with Luton Adult Learning. Eligibility depends on the programme, the individual and where they live, and it does not cover every course. If you are recruiting locally it is worth asking — see our funded training information or call us and we will check.
