These terms apply when you book and pay for a course with Skills Pad, a trading name of Training Code Ltd (company number 12924476), 33 Park Street West, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU1 3BE.
Your legal right to cancel
When you book online or by telephone you are entering a distance contract, and under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have fourteen days from the day after booking in which to cancel and receive a refund.
There is an important exception. If your course begins within that fourteen-day period and you have asked us to start the service before the period ends, you lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully performed. If the service has only been partly performed, we may keep a proportionate amount for what has already been provided.
You do not need to give a reason. To cancel, write to info@skillspad.co.uk or to the postal address above. Refunds are made to the original payment method within fourteen days of us accepting the cancellation.
Cancelling or transferring outside the statutory period
Once the statutory cancellation period has passed, the following applies. Notice is counted in working days, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays, from the working day on which we receive your written request during our opening hours of 9.30am to 4pm.
- Cancellation with more than 10 working days notice before the course start date: full refund less an administration fee of £25.
- Cancellation with 5 to 10 working days notice: 50 per cent refund.
- Cancellation with less than 5 working days notice, or non-attendance on the day: no refund, because the place, tutor and materials have already been committed.
- Transferring to a later date with more than 5 working days notice: permitted once, free of charge. Later transfers may attract a fee of £25.
Fees paid on your behalf
Some charges are paid by us to third parties and cannot be refunded once they have been incurred. These include awarding organisation registration and certification fees, and the SIA licence application fee where we have already submitted your application. The SIA licence fee of £190 is set and collected by the Security Industry Authority. Skills Pad is a training provider and is not the Security Industry Authority.
If you do not meet the entry requirements
Regulated SIA qualifications have entry requirements set by the awarding organisation, including identification and English language requirements. If you arrive without the required identification you may not be able to be assessed. Please check the requirements on the course page before booking and contact us if anything is unclear. Where a learner cannot be assessed because the published requirements were not met, the cancellation terms above apply.
If we cancel or move a course
Occasionally we may need to cancel or reschedule a course, for example if a tutor is unwell or too few learners have booked. If this happens we will contact you as soon as possible and offer you a place on the next available date or a full refund of the amount you have paid us. We will not charge an administration fee where the change is ours.
Results and certificates
Course fees pay for training and assessment. They do not purchase a qualification, an SIA licence or a guaranteed result. Refunds are not given because a learner has not passed an assessment. If you wish to challenge a result, please see our Complaints Procedure, which explains the appeals route.
Payment
Payment is taken at the time of booking. Card payments are processed by Stripe and instalment options by Klarna, subject to their own terms and eligibility checks. Skills Pad does not store your card details.
