Our comprehensive Hand Hygiene training aims to promote understanding of performing hand hygiene in a healthcare setting.

This training provides insight into the mechanics of infection transmission, infection control measures, and hand hygiene technique recommendations. It also offers tips on how to measure compliance with hand hygiene practices, and how to make improvements or overcome obstacles.

This course covers:

• The significance of hand hygiene in healthcare settings, and the responsibilities of healthcare workers
• The impact of poor hand hygiene on patients and workers in care settings
• The principles of effective infection control in a healthcare environment
• The chain of infection, and how to break it
• The different situations where hand hygiene is essential in the workplace
• The correct technique for proper hand washing, and when hand sanitiser is appropriate
• The challenges to performing hand hygiene, and strategies to overcome them
• Recommendations for hand hygiene when using gloves
• How to monitor hand hygiene practices in healthcare environments
• How to implement changes to hand hygiene procedures and measure their impact

The course is made up of 5 modules (around 3.75 hours of learning): Introduction to Hand Hygiene in the Care Sector, Microbiology and Infection Control, Hand Hygiene Techniques, Challenges and Special Considerations, and Monitoring and Evaluation.
