Whether you are a teacher, healthcare worker, parent or carer of an autistic individual, our Understanding Autism Diploma is brimming with information, tips and advice to give you the tools needed to help people on the autism spectrum enjoy a better quality of life.
The course modules give you the knowledge to start working with autistic children and adults with confidence. It is an online course, so you can study at home or on the go, at a pace that suits you.
The course is broken down into eleven information-packed modules, each set out in an easy-to-understand format. On completion, you must pass a multiple-choice test, with two chances to pass. Once you pass, you can download and print your certificate, or have it posted to you for an additional cost.

- The different conditions that could be related to autism
- The learning disabilities associated with autism
- In-depth knowledge of social skills and communication
- The main causes of autism and how it is diagnosed in children
- How people with this condition communicate and typical behavioural patterns

- How to approach autism and prepare a person for social engagement
- The person-centred approach and how to provide a safe environment
- Visual strategies and the importance of organisation at home, school, work and in the community
- Ethical considerations when working with autistic individuals, and how to improve autism understanding and acceptance
The course comprises 11 modules (around 10 hours of learning).
