Everyone has the right to live a safe and happy life, free from the threat of abuse. Unfortunately, many people experience at least one incident of abuse in their lifetime, and adults who are less able to protect themselves — such as elderly people or those with disabilities — are at increased risk of mistreatment and neglect.
This Safeguarding Adults course provides an overview of what safeguarding means in practice and how vulnerable adults can be protected from abuse. It addresses what can be done in the short term to help those in need, as well as the preventative measures that reduce the risk of abuse occurring in the first place.
This course covers
- What "safeguarding" means, why it matters, and the six key principles that help prevent abuse
- The different forms abuse can take, including physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse
- How to identify the key signs of abuse in adults
- How to talk to someone if you suspect they are being abused, and how to report abuse to an authority or care professional
- How to prevent abuse, including building a zero-tolerance culture and involving vulnerable adults in community events
The course comprises 5 modules across 3 hours of learning. Browse our social care courses or view the full range of CPD courses at Skills Pad.
