There are four primary communication styles used in most conversations, and out of these, only one is ideal: assertiveness. Developing your assertiveness is key to having your wants and needs met, without leaving others to guess them or coming across as rude or overly aggressive. People with these skills tend to be happier and deal with less anxiety in daily life.
This course explains the strategies and techniques you can use to improve your assertive communication skills, starting with the various communication styles and why assertiveness comes with the most benefits. It then breaks down practising assertiveness into a series of simple, achievable steps you can use in daily conversations, before covering a range of assertive communication techniques.
- The difference between the passive, aggressive, assertive and passive-aggressive styles of communication
- Why being assertive is important, both at work and in your personal life
- How to prioritise your own wants and needs in a conversation
- The importance of turning down people and projects when you do not have the necessary time
- Strategies you can use to become more assertive with ease
The course comprises one module of around 45 minutes of video learning, plus an assessment quiz.
This course forms part of our Personal Development collection, alongside further titles in our full range of CPD courses at Skills Pad.
