Workplace violence is an unfortunate reality faced by many modern workers. It can happen anywhere — an office, a retail location, a factory floor or even a client’s home — and affects everyone regardless of position, including perpetrators, victims and witnesses. It can create unnecessary conflict, halt productivity and create a toxic workplace. Managers, employees and business owners all have an obligation to understand workplace violence and their responsibilities in reducing the risks and mitigating its impact.
This course gives detailed information about violence in the workplace and how to deal with it, beginning with a definition of workplace violence and a discussion of risk factors and how to mitigate them. It then reviews techniques for preventing violence, covers workplace bullying — including definitions and employers’ legal obligations — and finishes with conflict resolution.
- The definition of workplace violence and examples of how it can happen
- Why preventative measures should be put in place
- The type of preventative measures you can rely on
- The rules and regulations governing workplace violence
- How to identify, address and reduce the risks of workplace bullying
The course comprises five modules across one hour of learning: Understanding Workplace Violence, Preventative Measures, Bullying in the Workplace, Is Someone Being Bullied?, and Conflict Resolution, each with video content and a quiz. It sits within our Business courses and CPD Courses range.
