This course explains
- The importance of maintaining a safe workplace environment for employees and visitors, and the negative effects of a risky environment on the likelihood of slips, trips and falls
- Common hazards found in workplace environments, including trailing cables, contaminated and uneven floor surfaces, poor lighting, unguarded stairs, clutter and improper cleaning methods
- The selection of appropriate footwear, including outer sole design, materials, tread and cleat pattern, and tread depth
- Preventative techniques to eliminate risks, including conducting risk assessments, training cleaning staff in proper techniques, and educating employees to report spills immediately
- Other control measures, including training for employees and cleaning staff, adequate lighting, ramps and railings along stairs, proper mopping and spill clean-up techniques, and unclogging drains
