Welcome to this child counselling course, which focuses on the essential elements of being a child counsellor and what the role truly involves. Counselling is a form of therapy that benefits both children and adults, but there are important differences between counselling adults and counselling children — and this course focuses on those differences and the specifics of working with young people.
You will also explore the common approaches to child counselling and the strategies child counsellors use to address the challenges children face. You’ll learn about the issues children encounter at different ages and how to give them the tools to manage their emotions during difficult times. Promoting these healthy strategies early can help children develop normally and grow into adults who are better able to cope with adversity. The course also covers the kinds of child behaviours that counselling can help address.
